CCRC Contract Standards and Model Laws

The public is entitled to be able understand commitments which they undertake to ensure that there is mutuality in agreements and that contracts provide a full meeting of the minds. 

To this end Continuing Care Contracts need to be written in understandable, clear and unambiguous plain language.  Moreover, regulation is needed to ensure that Continuing Care Contracts fairly balance the interests of residents with those of the business entities that offer the contracts.

Some contracts have been so one-sided that it is questionable that any reasonable person would accept them.  Clicking on this paragraph will illustrate this from a contract that is actually used by a CCRC provider.

As such we do not advocate policies but instead seek to illuminate all sides of issues and all alternatives so that informed people can make better choices.
