Katherine C. Pearson and Resident Bills of Rights
Katherine Pearson is a Law Professor with an interest in the protection of CCRC residents. She has advocated legislative enactment of Resident Bills of Rights. She also testified at the July 2010 hearing on Continuing Care Retirement Communities held by the U. S. Senate Committee on Aging
In part as a tribute to her, but also to recognize the ongoing work to elevate the rights of residents in CCRCs, this page includes a compendium of the ongoing effort to shield residents from second class treatment in CCRCs.
The materials below reflect the work of Ms. Pearson and others, including Bills of Rights that have already been enacted in several states. To the right above is a discussion of the work that NaCCRA has undertaken concerning a Bill of Rights.

NaCCRA Web Site
NaCCRA has a Committee under the Chairmanship of Dan Seeger working to develop a Resident Bill of Rights. The Draft below is exposed for comment, much as the Model Laws have been exposed for comment.
We are eager to form Bill of Rights discussion groups in most of the 1,900 CCRCs in the USA so that they can report back to the Bill of Rights Committee with their likes and dislikes regarding the draft. We want your input so that we can develop a work product reflective of you and your needs and interests..
