Impromptu Discussion of Residents on CCRC Management Boards
The NaCCRA Governance proposal among the Model Laws seeks to balance an interest in Board collegiality, and the deliberative and advisory role of boards, with the resident interest (particularly among residents who invest substantial amounts in Entrance Fee contracts) in having representation when decisions are made that affect them.
There are also sharp differences of opinion among residents (and between providers and residents) about how and to what extent this interest in representation should be met. This interest led to a lively and informative discussion during the meeting during which some of the differences in thinking were clearly articulated.
