We have seen technology transform how we live over the course of our lifetimes. Many of us remember the walkie-talkies of World War II. Today we can carry a cellphone in our pocket and be reached anywhere in the world at any time and for a relatively low cost.
But not everyone welcomes technology. Change can be daunting. There is comfort in having human interaction whether it's with a teller in a bank or a caregiver in assisted living.
Still, technology offers advantages. Once programmed properly technical response devices are more vigilant and less prone to error or distraction than are humans doing mindless tasks.
